I have never had faith in the courts. We do not find justice there in the ways we need. These latest developments will constrain what is possible in so many areas of life and organizing. We have an absolute imperative to tear this system down.
My piece on minority rule, our new 6-3 court, how it took people so long to wake up, and how, no matter what happens next week—truly, whatever happens—no one with a stake in this democracy should ever plan on sleeping again: https://t.co/HXRUN6iJV3
WELP. The #GOP just forced Amy Barrett onto #SCOTUS with only 8 days till Election Day & over 63 million votes in--more than the total votes Trump received in 2016. As Americans suffer, the GOP prioritized their own power instead of #COVID relief. This is unacceptable. https://t.co/mYZt3RoLhC
As though Judge Barrett, who allowed herself to be used in this cynical game, is somehow separate from the shameful process in which she participated. And as if Barrett’s record alone is not disqualifying. A true failure of leadership in a critical moment in this country. https://t.co/XTjXrmivze
BREAKING: Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she'll vote to confirm Amy Coney Barrett. She was a rare Republican opponent of confirming a Supreme Court justice before the election but says, "I do not hold it against her." The final vote is expected Monday. https://t.co/XD2frtWZph
the first thing I will do on Saturday morning after our live shows is watch @heidibschreck@constitutionbwy. I can’t watch before then bc 1) it will undo me 2) I won’t be able to deliver the Honney joke in CJ without breaking and explaining to the audience that I actually love it
If you haven't yet already, please check out this amazing collection of essays on the topic of abolition (there's still another round of new essays coming next week). I'm beyond honored to have a piece published today among this incredible list of writers and intellectuals. https://t.co/eLqX37B6do
“We will not grant this process any further legitimacy by participating in a committee markup of this nomination just twelve days before the culmination of an election that is already underway.”

Bryan Stevenson and I don’t often speak together in public. But we planned this one months ago for just this moment. No moderators. Just a frank conversation about “This Defining Moment.” I think you’ll want to join. https://t.co/Yfhcod3AtR
It's David Adjmi Day at American Theatre: First, an excerpt from his brilliant memoir LOT SIX, about Ricky Schroder's tears, Sweeney Todd's razors, and other childhood talismans 1/2 https://t.co/bueqxJ40YE
There are at least four HUGE @ACLU cases at SCOTUS this term: Fulton (gov't contracts to entities that discriminate); Border Wall funding; Census counting of undocumented immigrants; return to Mexico anti-immigrant asylum policy. My colleagues are working so hard. In awe always.
Also to the sweet musical theater folks expressing concern about my raspy voice, you are correct I HAD A NODE! I was going to get surgery but as soon as I stopped talking about the Constitution 8x a week it disappeared. Now I can use my honey sweet voice for phone banking.
